Faults get found with proper test gear. That's a Fluke multifunction tester on the step, the kind that checks insulation, continuity, earth loops and RCD trip times. Find the real fault first, and a part can often be repaired instead of replaced.

He came after his usual work hours on the same day we called him, and stayed until the problem was fixed.
